We air up the spare tire.  They don't know where it is.  We change the hybrid transaxle oil, and much much more which they don't do.

We can always tell a car that has "only ever had 'dealer service'".  You bet we can: the spare is flat, the engine has buildups from cheap bulk oil, the wipers are worn out, and the Service booklet has zero endorsements.  The checklist we use has about twice as many entries as theirs.  These are to check for the things that we know will get you stuck -- screening, if you will -- like flat spares, noisy water pumps, weak service batteries, etc.  We wish we could charge $325 for the 60k "service" the Toyota dealer is giving you -- we'd be getting rich (like them) -- but it would not be ethical.  We need an entire day to ensure that the 30-60-90-120k Services are performed fully, thoughtfully and thoroughly.

If  you've been getting the Dealer Treatment, and would like to call the Toyota dealer to check on our prices, also be sure to ask them if your car's 12-volt battery tests good ... and if the spare tire is full ... 'k??

Good question!  
It is hard for us to show how nicely we beat-up on the big-box stores and the Dealers ... except for this one point!!

Two good answers:

• One major goal for us, being in auto repair, is the unique ability to make cars run as clean as possible.  Few other facilities value this potential they have, nor even recognize it, or understand the science of their work at all.  We take full advantage of the opportunity to adjust your car for you so it runs as cleanly, fuel efficiently, and safely as possible.  We have taken this resposibility seriously even since the days before any emissions controls.
• We voluntarily recycle such unregulated materials as used oil filters, and other car parts: we are a genuinely responsible shop by intent.  Other garages dispose of these in local landfills -- perfectly legal at the present time -- and while more profitable for them, it its wholly unethical for us.  From the cartons you car's parts arrive in, to the fluids and used dirty filters removed from it, Falconworks shops insist that they be recycled, regardless of the added expense to us.
• Better hybrid maintenance reduces carbon footprint, other pollution, and secondary waste such as prematurely worn out tires.

Our goal is to offer the best quality mechanical repair and service in a relaxed environment.  We are garage of 3 mechanics, and apprentice, and if we're lucky, an office manager.  There is way more information about [each of] us on our Land Rover page (the "green page") if you'd like.  We are proud of our skill and experience, and we use the best tools, including the genuine Toyota "Techstream" tool for computer diagnostics.   Oh, and we love what we do, and working on nice equipment ; like a farmer's market, we want to be there, we crave offering an organic service to those who appreciate the difference.

Why does a British-car service facility offer hybrid repair?  Historically a few cars are made which are special.  These perform exceptional duties for us.  They also confuse mainstream technicians.  Where ever specialists have been necessary we have always stepped in: the situation where the ordinary garage mechanic is forever overwhelmed. The Toyota Prius hybrid-electric car requires such specialist attention,  and we love working on them!!   Truly, Toyota has taken the unique features such as the high-power brakes of the bygone Range Rover and electrified them:  very impressive technology, and one with which we are totally familiar.  Our Land Rover, Jaguar, etc, and our Toyota Prius clients are wonderful responsible folks.  We welcome your visit and look forward to meeting you.  Try our so-called 'Prius Hut' ... the Falconworks ... as your dealer alternative for your car's next Service ... so it can get a real one, for a change!
